Are you a Loser?
I stopped believing in wardrobes that yielded pathways to Narnia where I could eat Turkish delight and make friends with talking lions. Apparently, people in the Democratic Party still believe in imaginary lands where budget surpluses and lockboxes are used to purchase Turkish delight (healthcare, education and social security) for all citizens.
Many Americans understand, on an individual basis, that anything the government says is free is just redistribution from somebody who earns the capital to someone who doesn’t. As a result of poor economics education, when Americans group themselves, they view themselves as victims of the free market. The free market takes the form an Evil Queen, who only desires to keep the ruling aristocracy in power at the expense of hard working peasants. This ridiculous narrative is bolstered by a bunch of used car salesmen posing as compassionate leaders, exploiting contextually dishonest history as well as our greatest fears associated with economic insecurity. Of course, these leaders have done fairly well for themselves. Whether they were channeling dead kids in courtrooms for exorbitant sums, or feeding from the taxpayer trough through election to public office; they all have benefited from the free market they demonize.
I cannot mince words when I look at the Democratic party: I see a bunch of people trying to convince the electorate that they are a collection of losers unable to spend their own money responsibly, pick their own schools and manage their own healthcare. They also believe that defending free people by use of military force harms our reputation in the world. If that were true, the countries of the world would stop asking for our help, but they won’t because it isn’t.
So, are you loser? Before you answer with the ubiquitous not everybody is born into the same opportunities etc., I agree and invite you to look at the legal immigrants from Cuba, Russia and Bosnia. Moreover, look at most legal immigrant groups. They understand the free market and are happy to be a part of it. As a Cuban immigrant recently said, “you’d have to be stupid not to make it in America.” Of course, their success may highlight your failures, and therefore shine a light on just how weak your excuses are for not succeeding. I am sorry to be insensitive; but I have to be insensitive because you are not a loser!
