Subject: Stimulus Plan

I believe I am going to be sick. My time reviewing the Stimulus Act destroyed my lunch. Huge amounts of money going to programs that I have no idea how they will correct our fiscal tail spin.

Please tell me in detail how these programs will aid a recovery:

Distance Learning, telemedicine and Broadband Program
WIC Supplemental Insurance
After School Feeding Program
Periodic Census
State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance
Climate Research
Endowment for The Arts
Children and Family Services
Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund
Prevention and Wellness Fund
Increase Students Loans
Federal Health Information

President Obama says we must “change our direction.” I could not agree more! But his change is wrong. And please do not call me partisan. President Bush spent like a drunken sailor and offered no fiscal leadership. And now it is happening again. What happened to the line over the last few months of “we will not do business as usual”.

My Grandfather, served on the Eisenhower Administration. Grandfather warned me over and over about the growth of government and lack of spending discipline. People thought he was a pessimist with his huge deficit forecasts. But in reality, his numbers were low compared to today’s national debt.

Yes, certain targeted monetary injections will spur business activity. But only short term. This is where aggressive tax cuts play a greater role. Tax cuts are sustained injection. If you allow me more money, I either buy, invest or hire people at my business. And correct me if I am wrong, but when people state

opposition to tax cuts, are they really not just frustrated with business crooks that take advantage of
laxed or failed regulations? And on regulation, I support laws to keep tabs on the crooks. Capitalism is good. But it also allows for the human flaw of greed to surface. And that flaw makes them not play by the rules. Therefore, rules must be established to counter that human flaw.

Another question….how many politicians have operated a business? I suspect very few. But politicians make business decisions for our government. I would never call a politician for advice at my company. I would call a seasoned, experienced business peer.

I pray for the day a leader arrives that stands up and says “sorry folks, tough it out. You have to find a way to solve your problems”. The USA is a lousy investment at this time. But the markets would change over night with a leader who made the right, tough changes. Yes, the change will hurt in the short term. But this country will be stronger for the future. The best lesson I have ever learned was after 9-11. My business was in the tank. No one was buying. My wife called her Father and “indirectly” asked for money. My Father-In-Law met with us and “indirectly” said no. His no was the best thing that ever happened to me.

You know, running this country is really not that complicated. Spend no more than what you take in. Very simple. All of the sudden I am thinking of Social Security….lord what a joke. You all spent that account dry. Amazing. And the best part is, you all just pass the problem on to the next leader.

Last, please nominate leaders that pay their taxes and lead by example.
